Unit 1 :Fantastic & Strange Brainstorm
This is a brainstorm of the unit Fantastic and Strange why I done this is to get ideas from all the artists in this unit as well as my designs and developments from each one to see if I could use ideas from them with my own artist. The artist I have picked to do my own developments and designs is Brice Bischoff, why I picked this artist is because I like the way he uses coloured powder on landscape outdoor areas this stood out not just because of the nice colours its the way he done this I really like how it stands out in the dark caves for the background also I can do so many things with his style.

Influences Rene Magritte
Surely the most celebrated belgian artist of the twentieth century, Rene Magritte has achieved great popular acclaim for his idiosyncratic approach to Surrealism. To support himslef he spent many years workong as a commercial artist, producing advertising and book designs, and this most likely shaped his fine art, which often has the abbreviated impact of an advertisement. while some french Surrealists led ostentatious lives, Magritte preferred the quiet anonymity of a middle-class existence, a life symbolized by the bowler-hatted men that often populate his pictures. in later years, he was castigated by his peers for some of his strateies( such as hit tendency to produce multiple copies of his pictures), yet since his death his reptation has only improved. Conceptual artists have admired his use of text in images, and painters in the 1980s admired the provocative kitsch of some of his later work.
Analysis:
What can I see?
The genre of art is landscape, what i can see is a rainbow go across the entrance of the cave making it look like a river of colors flowing down a stream also I can see main colours of a hot pink sea blue and sun yellow as well as the texture of the colours it looks fluffy and silky why I say this is because you can imagine that as a fabric you could use to sew with also its main colours make it stand out when looking at the entrance of the cave, the parts of the picture that have a dark tone is the entrance/inside the cave as well as the light area of the picture Is the left side of the cave where its toned so lightly so the light can give an effect of a smoky shadow effect above the colour stream making it seem that there's something mysterious going on within the cave.
Composition
The composition has a asymmetrical balance shape. The focal point is the entrance of the cave and the flowing of the colours I look here first because it stands out and its attracting me eyes to the colours . Next, I look at the at the top half of the cave because it makes me start to think about what's inside and how I would react if it was something magical or something scary. Although my eyes are attracted to the colours it not a big fraction of the picture the artist made it small so we would be able to see where the leading line are also why I think the artist made such a small amount of colours is that he wanted to give a effect of the leading lines and a shadow smoke of the colours shining in the light.
Colour & Mood
The main colours used in this piece are neutral colours like pink and yellow, The dominant colour is blue I think the artist used this is because blue is the same colour as water also the artist made the colours flowing like a river across the cave entrance. The colours give the mood of relaxed to work. I think this because when I look at this picture I feel calm and warm like a summer breeze. Also gives a magical mysterious mood because of how the artist used summer light colours and made some areas a light tone as well as the dark areas the dominant colour has given the dark areas a light tone making it stand out.
Light & Tone
The light is coming from the direction of the left side of the colors flowing. I know this because i can see that its making the left side of the picture brighten up and stand out more, The highlighted areas are the enter, left and top of the picture they have been tonally shaded in very light tones to reflect the light . The dark tones used is the color of the rock and the inside of the cave they have been used to give the photograph weight and depth. The light and tone adds a calm mood to the work, i think this because when i look at this picture i see a rainbow.
Pattern & Texture
The artist uses a fabric looking pattern on the photograph. This adds interest to the piece and makes it look ghost like rainbow river flowing across a dark cave, the artist uses different textures such as a rough look for the top half of the cave also a soft look for the grass in the right corner and a rough look for the ground in front of the cave. Why the artist used a rough half of the picture is to make its seem that the dark areas are rough and
What i have learnt & how will i use my artist's ideas to influence my own work?
. What i have learnt is that the color used in my artist work have been toned lightly and darkly.
. The different patterns and textures used by my artist makes it look like you can really feel the rainbow river.
. This have given me a idea to make rainbow clouds for my own work.
